Mondaiji.com is a burgeoning Japan-focused social community aimed at
performers,
artists, freelancers, and enthusiasts. Professional and aspiring
comedians,
musicians, singers, media creators, bands, photographers, dancers, etc.
can get to know each other, become friends, connect with fans, and
display their creations
for all to see. Being a community of independent-minded
people, Mondaiji.com seeks to better connect artists with
fans as well as freelancers with clients.
For example:
You're an independent artist / musician / comedian and want to
better publicize your creations and connect with fans.
You're a comedian hoping to collaborate with other comedians.
You're in a band but need a drummer.
You're a drummer looking for a band.
You work for a small media production company that needs actors
for a
promotional video. Using a talent agency is expensive, so you
would prefer to find and hire a few actors directly.
You want to make your own website but need a web designer and
graphic artist.
You need a translator / interpreter for an upcoming project.
You want to learn a foreign language or martial art.
You're a foreigner living in Japan or interested in Japan.
You're a Japanese person living abroad or interested in foreign
cultures.
You're a free-thinker and want to connect with other like-minded
people.
Why is this site called "Mondaiji?"
"Mondaiji" is the Japanese word for "problem child." In Japan
there is a prevalent expression that typifies the culture: "The nail
that sticks up gets hammered down." This is in striking contrast
to the Western expression: "The squeaky wheel gets the oil."
Since performers, musicians, and artists stand out and command
attention, they could be considered the "problem children" of Japanese
society. Instead of passively obeying their parents, "mondaiji"
play music, travel abroad, start their own businesses, and creatively
express themselves.
What makes this site different from sites like Mixi or YouTube?
Those sites target anyone and everyone, so I think they're too far-reaching. Mondaiji.com is composed solely of interesting, independent-minded performers, musicians, artists, and fans.
